As a general guide, a skin fade needs touching up every 2 to 3 weeks. The faded area grows out faster than the length on top, so it is the first part to lose definition. Between visits, avoid washing the fresh fade for the first 24 hours if possible, use a light matte clay rather than heavy gel to keep the style natural, and keep the sides trimmed with a home clipper if you are comfortable doing so.
